In 2024 the 6 masterclasses provided deep dives into development solutions for Hyperloop topics. In 2025 we plan 4 deep dive sessions for our participants.
Masterclass 1: Hardt Hyperloop – European Hyperloop Center in Groningen/Netherlands
„Hyperloop Advancements in the Netherlands – An Update from the Lowlands“
The Netherlands has been a frontrunner in hyperloop R&D, policy development, (test) infrastructure development and planning for commercialization. This master class takes a public-private perspective on what has been achieved over the last year and how the Netherlands will be one-to-watch in the upcoming year. During this session we will take an informed look at the landscape of Dutch hyperloop players, their recent achievements and their plans for the year to come.
ROEL VAN DE PAS (COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR – HARDT HYPERLOOP)
Masterclass 2: Eurotube – Innopark Zürich/Switzerland
„A platform to build a hyperloop value chain – EuroTube’s ecosystem approach„
Building a continent wide unified hyperloop infrastructure will involve thousands of products from hundreds of companies in different engineering sectors, most of which have so far never heard of hyperloop. EuroTube’s approach is to bring new industry players from different fields to the table and identify and qualify standard products and applications from the industry that can be adapted to hyperloop thereby spreading the topic of hyperloop and creating a supply chain. In the Master Class we want to discuss strategies to bring more companies into the hyperloop field and build a critical mass of industry players that will enable a hyperloop ecosystem to emerge from which the new infrastructure can be built.
DR. LORENZO BENEDETTI ( R&D DIRECTOR – EUROTUBE)
ANTOINE JUGE (MISSION ASSURANCE DIRECTOR/ PROJECT LEAD DEMOTUBE TEST FACILITY – EUROTUBE)
Masterclass 3: TUM Hyperloop – Munich/Germany
„Lessons Learned from Building a Passenger Hyperloop Demonstrator“
In Juli 2023 TUM Hyperloop unveiled the first passenger-sized hyperloop demonstrator in Europe, which is certified by TÜV Süd for passenger operations and was used for first crewed test runs in a vacuum environment. Since then, the team has performed a number of tests and validated some key assumptions, leading to an updated technical concept and testing strategy. In this Masterclass the results of this analysis with regard to technical, operational and safety aspects as well as their impact on future hyperloop development and testing will be discussed.
GABRIELE SEMINO (PROJECT LEAD – TUM HYPERLOOP)
Masterclass 4: Institute for Hyperloop Technology Emden/Leer featuring Nevomo/ Germany
LUKAS ESCHMENT (PROJECT COORDINATOR – INSTITUTE FOT HYPERLOOP TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY EMDEN/LEER)
PRZEMEK BEN PACZEK (CEO – NEVOMO)
Masterclass 5: „Hyperloop Italia: Evolving from Technology Provider to Infrastructure Builder – The Path from Concept to Real-World Implementation“
„This masterclass will guide attendees through the process of transforming a hyperloop project from a conceptual vision into a real-world infrastructure initiative. It will cover how to analyze external landscapes and trends, identify and engage key stakeholders, address unmet customer needs, and secure the necessary legal frameworks. Attendees will learn how to outline growth strategies and required technologies, define key partnerships and supply chains, and develop contingency plans and operational alternatives. All of this is aimed at gaining strategic support for feasibility studies, technology integration, and the implementation of financially sound projects in collaboration with government entities.“
BIBOP GRESTA (CEO – HYPERLOOP ITALIA)
Michele D’ercole (Chief Hyperloop Officer)
Masterclass 6: Tata Steel meets TU Delft
„Development of sustainable infrastructure for Hyperloop”
Hyperloop has the potential to be completely green in the operational phase. However, the construction of the many kilometers of Hyperloop tube may have a large environmental impact. Current EU policy requires us to construct CO2 neutral and fully circular by 2050, which is a huge challenge. In this masterclass, we will first present a number of requirements relevant to the design of sustainable, safe and resilient infrastructure. We will address:
– functional performance
– potential to integrate sustainable materials and CO2 footprint (and other relevant footprints)
– reuse & recyclability potential
– ease of maintenance
– ease of construction
– cost
– potential to meet strict tolerances
Subsequently, we will present a number of promising structural concepts, explain the underlying choices and principles, and evaluate them in view of the requirements presented. Pros and cons will be discussed, and input from the audience will be welcomed. The audience will then be challenged to propose other promising structural concepts (new ones or modifications of the presented ones). Finally, the most favorable concept will be selected by the master class organizers, and the winning team will be allowed to present it to the wider audience of the Hyperloop conference.
Prof. Dr. Karel van Dalen (Associate Professor Dynamics of Solids & Structures – TU Delft)
Hans van der Weijde (Director Strategy, Programmes and external Collaborations – Tata Steel Nederland R&D)
